View Full Version : Layout review
Hi guys
I was just wandering if you guys could pass some opinions on this layout. It is not finished yet. The flash header needs working, I was just messing with some ideas for a minute and there is no content yet.
I would just like some opinions on whether it is going in the right direction and any ideas for improvement etc.
thanks

looks great to me... although the flash wasnt doing anything very big and interesting...
personal opinion here, but i think that overline looks pretty tacky on proffesional sites...
and it would be nice if the text goes bold when the background goes gray... just put the font-weight: bold; in with the background-color: whatever the background colour changes to... but you dont need me to tell you that. ;)
other than that it seems pretty grand, well done :)
Hey redhead
Thanks for taking a look.
Yer I am not to sure about the overline to be honest but I thought it might look abit different at the time.
The flash header is not finished yet, it has along way to go. I cant think of anything to do with it yet
Do you think if I make the text go bold when you move over the cell the cell it self should become a link or just keep the text as the link ?? What does everyone else think too ??

i think the cell should become a link. i personally get annyoned when i see i have to pinpoint on the text exactly to wake the link up...ur text isn't small and fine so it doesn't matter so much...i don't know. i'd go for the whole cell.
besides that, i like it:). it's simple and clean, and i like the orange-pink at the top.
will think abt the flash if i can... if i can get my grouch brain some sleep tonight..it's half-past four in the morning over here...

I like it a lot, compelling logo, clean, professional looking color use; a promising start.
I don't know what the Flash bit does, i never managed to load it; also, I'd really like to see the layout fluid, and i see no reason why it shouldn't be. If that Flash thing inhibits a fluid layout, I'd be quick to ditch it all together; I'm not keen on Flash gizmos anyway.
Code-wise, i think your layout is very table-rich; I'd seriously recommend looking into CSS for layout purposes. If you don't want to use CSS positioning, so be it, but you really don't need a table for that menu, to name something. There are also some font and color declarations in the code which you should definitely get rid of.
Hey guys
thanks for the reviews.
ronald you will have to ignore the code for now, the table layout (and css file) is incomplete as yet so the code will look mega sloppy for just a minute.
I have put the top header part and the navigation into tables so I can turn it into a template. Thus making the rest of the site easily updated.
Keep the reviews coming, I appreciate it all !!

While the layout is certainly nice, it still looks like yet another Dreamweaver template spinoff. I saw nothing that would make me chose you among hundreds of other web design firms which are represented by pretty much the same layout web sites.
If I were you I would:
- lose the flash and go with a graphics banner: all this blinking you have now does nothing but distract from the content.
- lose Dreamweaver (or at least all the <!--DW Table Layout --> comments in your code) and make a fluid CSS layout
well - I rather liked that, flash and all - just needs some content and ...well some content.
why is the keyboard doing A63 when it should be doing SF4 or similar?

... you will have to ignore the code for now...
Will do, but do note Vladdy's point.
I will do.
Ok well it looks like I am on the right track.
keep the reviews coming if you want to make a comment.
