View Full Version : where are png compression settings
It seems flash doesnt have a global setting for adjusting the image compression. the best i can do is right click the image in the library and then set the compression to png lossless. but i have 600 images.... Please tell me there is a way to do this with one action....

Thats a lot of images.
Have you tried in the Export Properties panel, where you can adjust the overall quality?
Otherwise, its best to optimize your images before importing, and its best to load larger images into the SWF instead of embedding them, to speed up the SWF loading time.

What did you mean by this. How does it make sense to load larger images into the swf. You lost me there :-)
also there is nothing in the export properties.
The problem that i am facing is that i am importing 600 pngs. Then for some strange reason flash treats them as JPG's unless i individually change the settings. By this i mean .with each one of the 600 images. This is a nightmare. The reason I need flash to treat the png pics as they are is because when it changes them to jpg...it increases the sizes by more than 2 :(

I have no idea how to easily change all of them to png lossless, but what I mean is that if you have larger images that you should load them after the SWF is loaded. There are a lot of tutorials on this, but I don't know what these 600 images are for?
So there are two ways to get images into Flash. The first is to import then while you are editing the FLA file, and the other is to have a SWF import them from an external source.
Otherwise I meant to look in the Publish Settings...
i guess i will have to do it manually :(
You would think that they would provide this most obvious of functions

Hey there, I just happened upon this thread searching for something else. I figured out a great trick to do this a long time ago, simply follow these steps:
1. Set the properties on one image to what you want for all of them (Allow smoothing, compression, etc)
2. Click ok
3. Open History panel
4. In the library select all the images you want to apply the settings to
5. Right click on "Bitmap Properties" step in the history panel and select "Replay Steps"
6. Voila, now all the images have the same settings!
