A freind of mine just pointed out an article to me that said Microsoft is going to give the Chinese gevernment the source code to it's Windows operating system. They did this to "eliminate any doubts the Chinese had" on Windows security. So, my question is, how long until someone in China realizes the value of that code and posts it on some website???

It's not just them; the UK and US governments have copies of the Windows source code as well.

I would think China would be the last place they would want to give their source to. Wasn't China like the leading producer of illegally pirated software?

This post is getting very pit-esque (or is that pituresque?) ;)
Which government would you trust with your source code? Putting aside issues of actual trust, can you have faith in government IT projects - their ability to store and manipulate data properly, safely and with due consideration?
If I was MS I'd be cacking in my pants right now ... just waiting for the first leak ... running farms of robots that spend all day googling for "microsoft source code"

Microsoft Front Page makes me sick. If anyone has it, and you move your cursor over it, it says something like: 'Make a Website that works with microsoft front page'
LIES!

I am under the impression that this is a pretty good setup for both people. MS Share the products and source with goverment departments, they modify, update and upgrade the source too make the products more secure and efficient, not too mention finding and sorting issues and bugs. Most off which are reported to MS, and fixed in service packs, updates and security patches - and also used for improving future products.

If you have ever used Front Page, you will know that Microsoft dont care about having bugs in their programs :D
I see your point though. ;)
