Hi,
I'm interested in learning about computer programming, and am looking for suggestions on where to start. I have some experience with web design (HTML, CSS, and a little javascript), but am completely new to programming. My goals are twofold. First, I use computers a lot and am interested in learning as much about them as I can. Second, I'm a composer/audio production enthusiast, and I've noticed that a lot of sound design and related jobs have some programming requirements. While these aren't necessarily the field I'm planning to pursue career-wise, I'd like to keep myself open to the possibility.
Ideally, I'd like to find web sites with free info on this subject matter. I've googled a few such web sites, and checked out a couple from the "Computer Programming Resources" sticky, but I'm not sure about the best way to get started. Can anybody suggest some good, comprehensive resources for me? Alternately, if you could recommend what programming languages are good to learn first, etc., that would be great. Thanks.
