Need help with shopping cart javascript

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the forums! I have a question about a javascript code. I am new to javascript and need some help.

I would like to use this code:

for a shopping cart that I'm creating. This code is suppose to show how many items are in the cart.

I would like to place it in the header of this test page (http://www.labslab.com/coficofi/test.html)on the right hand corner of the header.

I don't know what to do with the java code though because i tried to add it and it doesn't display. Am I missing something or do I need some kind of style in order for it to display?
