Hello,
It's very strange, but my laptop computer just doesn't start anymore.
When I press the start button, I hear the sound of the hard drive trying to boot fot two seconds, but then it stops.
there is absolutely nothing on the screen, it just remains black.
I always use it with AC adapter plugged in and the batteries are full.
So I wonder where I should start the investigations from.
Any suggestions would be welcomed.
Thanks.

Anyway to test the hardrive on another computer?

That would be difficult... don't have a second computer to test.
Do you think it could be the lithium battery gone bad?

Does the hard drive start to run for the 2 seconds every time you boot? If so i dont imagine that it is a power problem as the battery would soon loose charge and the HDD would fail to power up every time, for at least 2 seconds.
A few more questions,
1) When the HDD stops booting and it seems like it has fully powered down, do things like the DVD tray still open and close?
2) If you can access your HDD, try disconect it from everything then try booting and see what happens.
3) Again a big if, if you can access the RAM try diconnect that and if you here what sounds like beep noises that is the mother board trying to find the RAM, kind of.
Dont try all 3 at the same time. Post your results to each and hopefully we can find something out of the norm.
If you still get a blank screen and what sounds like nothing happened i am kind of out of ideas, a) power gone, HDD gone, Motherboard gone??? maybe all 3 if you were very unlucky.
Maybe somone else will be better help if nothing works.
Fingers crossed.

It could be a dud screen lamp if absolutely nothing shows.

If you always use it with the AC adapter and hardly ever on battery, you've probably caused the battery to go bad. The system might not start when it detects a bad battery. Try removing the battery and starting it up.
Beyond that, other than testing the hard drive in another computer and trying an external monitor, there isn't really much you can test on your own with a laptop.
been there done that ~ sort of :(
Mine just clicked and clicked and clicked - the classic sign of a busted hdd.
In your case, I would suggest removing the battery. (I never have a good time with laptop batteries).
Then plug in a desktop monitor and a mouse.
If still no starty, it must surely be 'inside' but I am not knowlegable enough to suggest what, for definite.

The same happened to me. I originally thought computer was dead when it was the screen lamp.
Bad thing though, it's not a cheep fix.
Had an issue with the screen on one of my old laptops too. Trying plugging an external monitor to your laptop, that's how I was able to access my old laptop.

My guess is as good as the second man, but it could be the battery.. If you always use it plugged in then it can damage the battery, unplug the battery and try again.
If you can access the RAM, try removing that, giving it a blow and plugging it back in.
Other than that, could be a new screen lamp.

If your computer does not turn on—you press the power button and no lights appear, and there are no beeps or other sounds—you should:
1.Verify that your computer's power cord is connected.
2.Unplug your computer and connect a different electrical device (such as a lamp, a fan, or a radio) into the same electrical outlet. If the device does not work, the problem is the electrical outlet, not the computer.
3.Contact technical support for further troubleshooting assistance. Most likely, the computer's power supply has failed. While replacing a part is a nuisance and may be costly, your documents, pictures, and e-mail should be safe and will be there when your computer is fixed

by any chance have you spilled anyhttp://imageshare.info/24213481828.jpg liquid over the laptop lately?
I just had something like that happen to me and I bought a new ac adapter on Ebay for $14.89 with free shipping and that fixed it.
Just my guess. - http://codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=159023
I'm not saying thats what is wrong with yours, but it was wrong with mine.

If the computer won't start at all(as in, doesn't load but gives you warning) it is a problem with a critical component.
If the computer just dies in a second, i'd blame the battery... or the power supply...
