Looks pretty good, I'm using IE6.sp1 at a resolution of 1152x864 :)

It's fine here too. I also have Arabic language support (I think it's installed by default on English Windows). Others will be prompted I guess if they haven't turned that off.'

Correction - no they won't! On that multilingual site I posted earlier I'm not prompted about the languages that can't be displayed on my puter. Maybe it's just a matter of having the right unicode fonts installed. This is confusing. :(

lmao, edit out my undue praise why don't you :D:p

meow, I think you will be prompted, at least I used to get prompted for chinese and that kind of thing. It's hard for me to tell as I've probably got all language support installed  Anyway they'll either be prompted to install or they'll just get garbled characters. You might want to link to the language pack or necessary Microsoft page or at least stick a help link up just incase.

mouse (can I eat you? :D ), I don't know. As said, I just recalled that I haven't been prompted when I have visited unicode sites that contain languages I can't view.

Maybe the prompting thing only happens when the site declares a charset that my system doesn't support. Since unicode is supported (even if I don't have fonts to display every language) it doesn't happen. Just a thought. :(

redhead and meow, which browsers?

that's what i'm wondering. this site (http://www.sultan.org/a/) used charset=windows-1256, not unicode. does it prompt you, look fine?

i went over to a friend who had IE 5, and her windows wasn't arabic-enabled. the arabic did show correctly but the fonts were funny.

can anyone with older or different browsers please check my page (http://www10.brinkster.com/asaakitesting) as well?

edit--
my windows is arabic-enabled, meaning that all i have to do to start typing arabic into notepad is Alt+Shift. which is why, no matter what i do, the arabic is always going to show up right for me (unless i disable the arabic...but i can't do that 'coz this is actually my dad's laptop:( ).

Not so hot in Mac IE5. I wonder how we could make it Mac friendly?

"It supports Latin, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Cyrillic, Greek, Japanese and Korean scripts. It does not support Arabic or Hebrew."

Well, before reading all the posts and replies, I don't know about anyone else, but looking at some of the screens shots the only problem I see if that the text is writen with a font.

The prevent the effects of people without the font, I suggest using pictures in show your text.

well, that's what i'd decided at the beginning, that i didn't want graphics. u see, the site'll have to be searchable and updatable and all that, in Arabic, and i didn't think it was possible or at least simple enough with graphics. i'd gladly reverse my decision if there are any good reasons though...

Aren't you going to send me the font? Send them in an e-mail. My e-mail is visible I think. :) I found my AIM name. it's colinceo. I lost yours though...

Mac OSX likes fonts with these extentions: .otf .dfont and "font suitcase"

Mac OS 7,8,9 likes fonts with these extentions: "font suitcase"

Yeah, I'm 80% a PC guy. Just use my mac to test my web design. But thought I'd try to help. You know your site works fine in Windows and IE... which is like 80% of the market. Plus I have no idea how many Arab countries have Macs. Probably none. So don't be discouraged.

Here are some links that might help you out. This is over my head so bear with me id these links mean nothing to you :o

thanks a lot dreamingdigital:)
cud u pm me ur email address if you don't mind? i could email u through CF but not with attachments.

I have no idea how many Arab countries have Macs. Probably none.
Don't know about there being none but certainly over here it seems that noone ever heard of anything besides PCs and IE. tell u the truth, i didn't know much either, until i joined CF!
But you see, I'm targetting non-arabs, it's actually a comprehensive and personal-Arabic-tutor sort of site. Arabs wouldn't need to learn arabic when they already know it.:D
i'm tryna get the mac fonts now, will email them when i get your addy.
thanks for help!:)
