Can I make a hard disk version of an ISO file. That is, a version that I can use in place of a DVD. to install a program. My DVD player is unserviceable at present.

Do you mean you want to use an ISO without having to burn it to a physical disc? If so, Daemon Tools (http://forum.daemon-tools.cc/announcements.php) will do exactly that.

Thanks for the info. I have dowloaded and installed the lite version, but after half an hour of trying, I still have not found how to use it!
The help option is useless. It is a trick page.
Any pointers welcome.

Here is somehting i used a while back for converting .bin files. It was very easy to use and allows you to do all sorts with .iso files as well.
Never had any problems with it, very good for what i needed. Hope this helps.

It installs a tray icon and you right click on that and can load an image from under the virtual CD/DVD-ROM menu.

I used daemon tools for that.

I have been out of touch for a while. One or other of the programs that I tried, killed my PC. I have just re-installed Vista Ultimate 32bit yet again.
I'm a bit wary now. WhenI have plucked up courage and got over the nervous breakdown, I'll try again. (Doesn't this lad EVER learn.)
I haven't lost my mind. It's backed up on disk somewhere.
