Up for a laugh? http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/beta-download.aspx
I'm going to try it now or tomorrow, despite my constant mocking I actually really want to have a go.

Brave outlook, i may just do the same with an old laptop that i dont care when it brakes, catches fire and gets stuck in a constant blue screen for the rest of time...

PS: I have downloaded the 32bit and the 64bit.
Which shall I use?

To help the decision for you, I would go with the 32bit. I just have a feeling that the 64bit version will be more buggy.

Is there a 48bit version in the pipeline?
I'm all for compromise.
I expect I'll start with 32bit and then, knowing me as I do! I almost certainly try the other version. Gad. How to live recklessly.

lol.
In that link it said "It can be glitchy—so don't use a PC you need every day." without a pause, I immediately thought: 'don't use a PC you need any day'.
just to be boring for a minute...
why do they go to the bother of releasing a buggy beta version when the real thing is buggy after release? Have they not enough staff? Are they using people gratuitously by getting their help without payment? I think if they are going to make millions out of something, they should at least do the work themsleves or pay those who help them rather than exploiting those who just want to be involved.
grrr

I consider the beta rather stable, actually, apart from it complaining about Windows Defender every once in a while. Installed Chrome (dev) because IE8 crashes more often than teenaged girls.

Why do you think the 64-bit version would be more unstable?

I don't know, I just have a feeling. Don't let me stop you though!

Just installed the 32bit version of Windows 7. Went like a dream. I was pleasantly surprised. All my programs appear to be working fine.

What are the main differences between it and Vista?

Nothing very obvious so far except for the lack of the intruding uac panels.
It certainly loads faster than Vista.
But it is still early days.:D

Courage friend.
Bite the bullet.
It seems to load much faster than vista.
So far. all my programs run well.
The control panel is different in presentation.

According to lots of reports on the net, it's just the same speed behind the scenes. Only the interface is sped up.
However I cannot confirm this until I have tried it :) (which will be soon)

It runs html, css and javascript from my end OK. I have not found any problems with php as used on Coding Forums etc.
It does have a compatability icon on the IE8 header.
I don't use the others. I'll continue to report if any faults show up.
EDIT: It does not like Comodo in its present form

I do find Windows 7 a bit faster than Vista in terms of speed, but I don't think there's really a palpable difference on systems which are vaguely new (mine). I'll give it a shot on old hardware at some point.
The taskbar has been revamped, and I really like it. If you don't, it's perfectly possible to revert to its predecessors' style. It's hard to explain unless you see it, though.
UAC is less intrusive and doesn't moan at you every five seconds like it did on Vista (but if you like that safe feeling, you can crank it up in the Action Center.)
Home networking has probably had a turn for the better and looks like it could be a lot more easy to work with. I don't have multiple computers to test out the theory, though.
There's a lot of subtle differences there too, but I don't have the patience nor care to write them out. It's worth a shot, though, definitely.

I think he was referring to run a server, not accessing it from the client side.

I have just convertred to 64bit Windows 7 beta. I must admit that I am growing to like it too. I don't drink, so I don't think I am drunk.
Down the hatch.
