I am going to write as I explore the site, so my thoughts might be a little random but will follow my exploration of your site.

Well it seems at first glance like a direct attempt to copy Google. The layout and links looks almost the same, except for the logo which is still just text like the Google logo, hard to differentiate.

However it looks like you are actually accessing Yahoo!s search services, Wikipedia, DMOZ. I think its legitimate to say that this isn't really your service, just an extension of several services together? I have no problem with that since that is why Yahoo has opened up their resources to developers, but it does make a difference on how much you can control your search. So in all, you are really only providing a new interface for these services.

I like the blogs and forums search, not quite sure how you did it except to filter results that have 'blogs' and 'forums' in the url or something. However it seems to weight certain site, or my searches just frequently land me around microsofts blogs?

Quicklook is interesting, but is somewhat too small to be function to me. Its like trying to see the neighbors yard through a peephole in the fence. Perhaps its either 1) not worth it or 2) needs to be larger by default (mostly width, its easy to scroll down IMO).

I feel like the site does some good things and struggles with other things when it comes to using space. It seems the sides of the pages just have no edge and fall into the whitespace on all sides. It looks like it still needs something to give it character. The design borrows so much of its look and feel from the other major search engines that it just looks too bare without their logo and colors, and it doesn't seem strong enough as it is. Perhaps think about ways to differentiate, by using different colors and strengthening the brand of your site.

Sponsored results that don't match my search in any way whatsoever are like spam to visitors. They can tell when a link seems so far out of place now (thanks to Googles training of targeted ads), and when I say Pizza I don't want to know about Proxies. I know its probably new and you don't have sponsors yet, but that would be a huge task to make this work, perhaps offering deals to various different types of advertisers who represent a good spread of various topics that are likely to be searched.

To tackle the major search engines (especially by using one of them for results) requires a lot of creativity and development. I'd say right now you are on track to make more of a clone than a revolutionary new search engine. Its just hard to find new ways to develop search engines, especially against the giants. I wish you the best.
