forumkenny873 02-28-2003, 05:53 AM hello, I am very interested to build a forum like this one, does anyone know how ? Ökii 02-28-2003, 09:50 AM the one (vBulletin) costs money. I'd reccommend invisionboard as a freebie - dotcom I think. Nightfire 02-28-2003, 05:52 PM To build one you need a serverside language, database and lots of patience ;) Easier to get one of the forums Okii suggested though ;) missing-score 02-28-2003, 07:20 PM Although a database is a better choice, you can make a forum without a database. Goto www.itoolkit.net/forum and take a look. I made this simple forum, and I am working on version 2. This uses no database and about 20K worth of PHP files. it writes the info to .dat files to be displayed later. Ill be putting v2 up for download at my homepage soon ( itoolkit.net ) so check it out! Tommi 03-01-2003, 06:05 PM The best free PHP forum I've seen is on http://pblang.drmartinus.de - And even no need for databases! missing-score 03-01-2003, 08:10 PM That forum is pretty cool. It looks far to complex to be ran of text files. Another good forum is XMB forum ( http://www.xmbforums.com ) I set one up earlier ( http://members.lycos.co.uk/ilikephp/forum ) cos lycos give you free PHP4 support and a free MySQL database with online database editor. thox 03-01-2003, 09:00 PM NavBoard Home - Free flat file forum (http://navarone.f2o.org/forum/) NavBoard is something I found recently, it is flat-file based with NO MySQL or similar. Pretty much it kicks *** and I love it. I like it so much I even set up a forum (using NavBoard of course) dedicated to modifying it. My NavBoard (Topic: modding navboads) (http://www.thox.fuoru.com/~synkronus/forum/) Beware the beta versions, lots of testing and production is in progress. I've seen it develop through two stages in about a week and all the bugs I've found have been removed (one bug in the process of being fixed). Anyhow, enough of promoting my current favourite forum. NOTE: English only but looking for translators |
