truly cross-browser way to embed Windows Media player

Does anyone know of a truly cross-browser way to embed Windows Media player? The player needs to have autostart disabled and loop set to false. I'm out of ideas.

There's a lot of sites out there that tell you how to do this, and none of those solutions are totally working for me across multiple browsers.
