Making a game

So, I more so have a question then anything. I was wondering, what type of skills would you need to have to make a Java based game like RuneScape?

Even the first game that they made, RSC, would that be very hard to learn how to make?

The reason why I ask is because I want to learn how to make my own game, and RuneScape is the closest that I know that is out there that is a Java based game.

Hrmm.. Great, but that really wasn't honentlty what I was looking for. I'm more so looking for how many year of learning time do you think it would take to even think about working and building a game like that. Anybody know?

Ok, sorry for misunderstanding your question.

Making a big game like that wouldn't be easy. It would take almost a year dare I say to make a java multiplayer game. Not to mention the server cost.

But to learn Java at that level, would take maybe about half a year. Once you have got to grips with the commands and syntax of everything, making the game would be a case of using common sense and java knowledge.

So my answer is:
Maybe a year to make the game fully and tested.
Maybe half a year to learn the Java skills required to make a good stab at the project.
