I do have a site uploaded. Recently thought I should make it more colorful and userfriendly and hired a web designer for it.
Now the index file is 27KB and now it has been increased to 48KB.
and the whole file is 167KB earlier now it is 637KB. (includes style css, images etc).
How this will affect my SERPs when loaded? Can I make it online orlese should I check again so as to decrease the coding.
I think lot of tables are in the new index file. Will it have any negative SEO affect?

I think lot of tables are in the new index file. Will it have any negative SEO affect? Definitely, if they are used for layout and not for presenting any tabular data ! See "Why tables for layout is stupid: (http://www.hotdesign.com/seybold/)?" and Why avoiding tables (for layout) is important (http://davespicks.com/essays/notables.html)

Post the url to your site and we can tell you what needs to be changed. Its possible you didn't hire a good web designer but we can't tell for sure until we see the code for ourselves.

Even if you have too graphical layout. You can cut in proper way without using tables and master skills of css to reduce page size.

In general, search engines will pay the most attention to markup within the first 100KB of page site. Image size, external JS or CSS, or other content is pretty much ignored by a search engine. Stick to streamlining the size of your HTML markup.

That was the main problem.
After a lot of struggle, I did end the contract with him.
The present guy is a very nice coder. He's taking care of all the aspects pertaining to website excluding SEO.
