Photogallery with small pictures as preview

Hi, i'm trying to make a photo gallery with small pictures as preview. I've learnt from an tutorial that by using XML and flash together i could make a photo gallery, but these are with the full image, I wonder how i should write to make the movie clip duplicate itself to form a matrix format. If i were to draw 9 separate boxes to fill 9 different images then i still have to change the SWF file when i want to update and add a 10th picture.
