the cookie and the "shopping cart"

i am doing the client side programme. i would like to ask about using cookie to store the selected products to the shopping cart. can it work?

i would like to know that about what techinque using on the e-shopping cart? using cookie or any else to "store" the products in the shopping cart?

There is a limit of 4 Kbytes per cookie for the sum of both the cookie's name and value, and no more than 20 cookies per server or domain. The simplest use puts one item per cookie and limits your customers to 20 items total. You can sub-divide cookies to get more items if you wish; instructions are on the "Samples of my work > Cookies" page at:

Another way is to build your site in frames. Make one of the frames 100% and the other "*" for the size. Store all of the information into the second frame until you need it.
