Why doesn't the review page have any styles?
Also I change the style of the footer to be brown with white letters and that doesn't show either.

What am I missing?

Fix the errors first , see http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fatcitycafe.net%2Freviews.html&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0
and http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fatcitycafe.net%2Freviews.html&profile=css21&usermedium=all&warning=1&lang=en

what should these be?

# Error Line 1, Column 120: DTD did not contain element declaration for document type name.

R/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

A DOCTYPE declares the version of the language used, as well as what the root (top) element of your document will be. For example, if the top element of your document is <html>, the DOCTYPE declaration will look like: "<!DOCTYPE html".

In most cases, it is safer not to type or edit the DOCTYPE declaration at all, and preferable to let a tool include it, or copy and paste it from a trusted list of DTDs.
# Error Line 2, Column 42: document type does not allow element "html" here.

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head>

The element named above was found in a context where it is not allowed. This could mean that you have incorrectly nested elements -- such as a "style" element in the "body" section instead of inside "head" -- or two elements that overlap (which is not allowed).

One common cause for this error is the use of XHTML syntax in HTML documents. Due to HTML's rules of implicitly closed elements, this error can create cascading effects. For instance, using XHTML's "self-closing" tags for "meta" and "link" in the "head" section of a HTML document may cause the parser to infer the end of the "head" section and the beginning of the "body" section (where "link" and "meta" are not allowed; hence the reported error).

What doctype should I use?

Its the right one just formatted improperly. It should be this

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

html should be lowercase. And there is also no stylesheet found here reviews_files/1-3col.css. It should be just 1-3col.css instead.

Thank you, I'm now seeing my changes to the footer.

Now, I'm trying to add margin-left or padding to the image so it's not touching the left edge. What's the best style for that?
