To enable cross-browser display of a video, I added both object and embed so almost all browser can supposedly view it:

<OBJECT ID="Player" WIDTH="720" HEIGHT="480" CLASSID="CLSID:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95"
STANDBY="Loading Windows Media Player components..."
TYPE="application/x-oleobject" VIEWASTEXT>

<PARAM NAME="FileName" VALUE="VIDEO1.wmv">
<PARAM name="ShowControls" VALUE="true">
<PARAM name="ShowStatusBar" value="false">
<PARAM name="ShowDisplay" VALUE="false">
<PARAM name="autostart" VALUE="false">

<EMBED TYPE="application/x-mplayer2" SRC="VIDEO1.wmv" NAME="Player"
WIDTH="720" HEIGHT="480" ShowControls="1" ShowStatusBar="0"
ShowDisplay="0" autostart="1">
</EMBED>
</OBJECT>

This is a Windows Media Player embed, which of course works fine in IE, and always has, assuming someone has the patience for ActiveX. Firefox, though the windows media plugin is installed and enabled, displays the screen and controls fine and well, but will not play the video at all... locally at least. If I direct it to a video on an external website, it works and plays, but it can't seem to play anything off my hard drive in Firefox.

The video is small- less than 1MB, so it's not taking forever to load, but

Is this because of my coding, the browser, or something local?

Thanks!

Oops. I assumed the previous user had already installed WMP plugin- it now plays. There's another issue (of course), but that will be in a new thread.
