td background image "no attribute"

Only error I have left on page, I need the image to remain background of a table cell, how do I correct this for xhtml compliance


Line 189, Column 31: there is no attribute "background".

<td background="images/round_side.gif" class="data">

That means just what it says: 'background' is not a valid attribute. I expect that you're looking for style="background:url(path/to/some.jpg);".
