In firefox click event is firing before doubleclick event for a div

Dear users
i want to execute a function when double click on some div,but when i doubleclick on that its executing two functins
1) which i wrote for single click
2)which i wrote for double click

the above senario is in Firefox its working fine i,e when i double click on div only doublle click realted function is executing in IE.

if any one know solution for above please let me know

i suppose wen i really think about it a single click must always occur before a double click can be achieved. someone correct me if i am wrong...

some browsers delay the firing of onclick, to see if it is actually a double click.
that's why many large sites use onmousedown instead: the site feels more responsive without the 100-250ms delay.
