Hi!i'm new here. and i hope i post this thread in right place

I'm having a problem with formatting windows XP. My computer is an older acer laptop-aspire 5560.
Every time when I choose to fresh the installation of windows, computer shuts down without any errors after all the installation files are loaded .i don't know what's wrong with my laptop, and i'm sure the disc is fine because my brother used it just a week ago.

I'm apologizing for my bad (not so good ) English. Any suggestion will be appreciated!

Hi noko23 - welcome to coding forums.

There isn't much wrong with your english :) I have seen worse written in English newspapers. lol

I shall make a guess here based on my experience with doing something similar. Once the files have been refreshed, windows shuts down and reboots automatically. Did you wait for it to reboot?

Correct the system does reboot on its own. After rebooting it may ask you to press any key to boot from cd except this time you don't need to do this. Windows will begin to finish the installation.

When you start the installation process are you deleting the old installation of windows or just reinstalling over the old one ? , assuming you have NO DATA TO SAVE , try deleting the old partition structure and letting windows setup create a new partition, also do the FULL format option not the quick format (can take a long time).

If you still have problems then try a memory test (from a live CD or similar) also you might be able to download the disk manufacturers diagnostic test on a CD, if its not memory or disk problems then you probably have few other options?
