How to get rid of standard icons on desktop ?

There are 3 icons I can't get rid of on my desktop:
- my computer
- network
- trash

I do not use the first 2, is there a way to remove them ?
(using Win98)

found a solution already. (show desktop as web page and hide icons)

PS if moderator reads this, deleting the thread is ok => not really interesting anymore

Properties => Desktop => customize desktop will allow you to select which of the standard icons are shown. In XP that's the way anyway. :thumbsup:
