IE Problems - Right column is floating on top of left column

I really need help with this. I have tried several different layouts plus have read and tried several IE hacks but can't seem to figure out the cause.

I have a two column fixed-fluid layout with a header and footer. The right side content divider floats on top of the left side column in IE.

Everytime I think it is fixed, I type something into the right column and it all goes haywire again (like adding a table).

(FYI - don't bother with my home page or other pages since they use different layouts that I was experimenting with).

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I am at my ends-wit trying to troubleshoot this so your help would be great.

Ok, I have narrowed the problem down to when I add a data table to my content area that has a % width. This causes the table to expand across the entire width of the screen instead of just the content area.

Now that I have it a bit more narrowed down to the problem, is there a solution in handling this bug?

Also, never apply float if not required. IN your case you've applied floats to almost all main elements.

I used a template from http://matthewjamestaylor.com/blog/ultimate-2-column-left-menu-pixels.htm

I have tried several other templates with the same outcome but I will look at the link you gave me and hopefully that will resolve the issue.

Choose the right one from there, depending upon your choice of fixed/fluid layout.

Looks like this template will be my answer - four pages are finished with no problems. Thanks for the help. I did discover that it only works if you enclose a table in its own <div> otherwise the table expands out to the right.

At least it is working. I'll keep my fingers crossed until more pages are done since it all seemed good with the other templates until I add a new thing to the page.
