View Full Version : SpeedCameras.com - I'm building it

I have the task of building, what could be a huge huge site - http://www.speedcameras.com/ I've got 14 days to do it.
I've just put one page online to show the basic concept i have designed so far. I need help from a image whizz for 3 nav buttons and a logo. I'm open to any ideas or suggestions.
I also need to install a forum. I was thinking of phpbb - but to risky as no support is provided. I like vbulletin - are they any good?

Ooh Interested in this, assuming it's not a fan site :D
Here's a link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2747707.stm
I've not used phpBB but I've heard it's good, Invision board is quality too, I installed that on a site I used to run, all quite easy to administer.

phpbb2 is ok, but has quite a lot of bugs, which you'd probably find out in time. vbulletin are probably the best forums I have ever used, well worth the money IMO. You get more control on how the forums work with VBulletin too
Installation for both forum packages are very easy

hahaha no way will it be a fan site. I want to make it a respectable site were people can share their points of view.
My brainwave is to have a 'special' nav across the screen (from the camera logo to the end of the white banner) of all the culprits who are making travelling in britain a misery.
from left to right i want to have cut outs of the following heads - tony blair, john prescott, alistair darling, gordon brown, david begg, ken livingstone and iain duncan smith and that other guy. preferably i would like cartoon drawings of their heads.
plus i need a decent logo for the site. I'm crap at imagery.
as for the forum, i think i will go for vbulletin.

Well if I was good enough to make my own board, and it had to be php I would get VBulletin. From what I've heard they have great support, and well this site runs on it and it works nicely.
As for buttons like red said (hehe that rhymes) just tell us what they have to look like and someone should be able to do it.

These sites are doing the same thing. If yours is up to date then it could well be the best.
A board would be a great addition.

btw head over towards vbulletin, I am not happy with phpbb at all at the mo - so many bugs it is annoying me really bad... arghh!
Nevertheless, both have decent support forums:
