I curse that limit I does. It has ticked me off soooo many times but none more than today.
I wanted to search for "how to run cgi on pws".
Could it possibly be adjusted? Or would that cause even more problems?

just think of thouse three letter words e.g. ASP, PHP, CGI which appear in every post so it will produce many irrelevlant posts and make all searches take longer

Yeah but it does get annoying when your search query does not have words that exceed 3 characters...

Breakthrough!!! <- especially for CodingForums.com users :D
Use double wildcards; if you're searching for 'cgi' use **cgi**, searching for 'cgi on pws' use **cgi pws** and whatever combos you wish.
Thank you and good night :D

i didnt know a wildcard after the first would make any difference.

It's all down to the flux capacitance of the wildcard being inversely polarised to the electrolytic search minkies, tricks 'em you see.

if the searching those really common words was too much of a problem, you could make a more "inteligent" search filter, that had a list of single words that wern't allowed to be searched so people could not just put in the word "the" or whatever and get every single post, just wasting bandwidth, and server processing.
