barkermn, they're both content management systems.
I would definitely opt for Joomla, with wordpress, you could get 'lost' in it.
Also, plugins, templates and modules are easily.
I hope this helps with your decision.
And good luck with your site!

Wordpress is a CMS too.
CMS = Content management system. If you have used Joomla you would know that like Wordpress, it publishes news.
For your website I would suggest Joomla.

Calm down..
Wordpress is more of a blogging system, Joomla is more of a site system.

They may look completely different, but they work around a similar principal. Content management.

It would help if you sent a link to the actual CMS site and not the community site.
Wordpress can work just like some of the other full blown CMS platforms. It's all about how much you want to put in to it. Just like everything. If you're comfortable learning something and digging into some php, then Wordpress can do anything the others can and visa versa.
I'm more comfortable with WP and I like it because I have already ready written several snippets to manhandle it. Plus I can teach someone to use it fairly quickly.
It's really a matter of choice.

In my honest opinion (and as an avid user and developer for Joomla), use Wordpress. Your current site is clearly just a blog format, which Wordpress does with elegance, whereas Joomla could do exactly the same thing, but without the simplicity of the Wordpress system.
Like others have said, both can do anything if you pull up your sleeves and go to work. Wordpress will be a simpler solution for what you are currently doing. However if you have plans to expand the site into other directions, Joomla may provide a better platform to start from.

I decided to stick to wordpress, I've already learned it and yes it's very simple, but you can get it to do pretty much to do anything if you are wiling to do a bit of php
here's the what the site looks now
