Hey just launching a new site, wanted to know what everyone thinks about the site, the layout, etc.

It validates, both markup and CSS.
I really like the simplicity of the layout, it's so easy to navigate. Nothing bad to say really...

Design Bad
Nothing I can fault.

Design Good
Very simple, and as Millenia said; easy to navigate.
The logo looks very nice

Validates Markup & CSS

You've left me writing my shortest review yet, Andrew Johnson!

First impression: Nice clean design, good organization and to-the-point.

- Very nice and clean, excellent for the site and intended audience

- Excellent. No criticisms.

- It validates! :)
- No tables for layout! Excellent!

Overall, a very nice site. I really can not find anything to criticize, which is quite a rare occasion. Excellent job! :)

I liked the simplicity. Took a bit to load up, but wasn't too bad.

Why are the thumbnails on the front page such bad quality?

They're not...

Yeah, they look pretty good to me.

They're pretty bad. I can see compression artifacts everywhere. On some of them it's fairly unnoticeable, but on, for example, Disaster Movie, it's pretty nasty.
And what's with the adverts? Full screen? Really? It's pretty unpleasant.
I'm sorry I'm focusing on negative things, but you have got some good praise from hard-to-please people ^^

Disaster Movie is EXTREMELY minimal, it's honestly a joke to even bring it up...

And I have ads to make money.

So does most other people. You could make them smaller =/

I'm not a very joking person. I used Disaster Movie as an example, although the movie does appear to be a joke all by itself, unfortunately. I can tell the JPEG compression is bad on most of them, from the text in Watchmen to the complete blurriness of High School Musical 3.

Have to agree with Cyan here. The images are showing some compression artifacts.

As for the site layout and appearance, I only got a glimpse of it before one of those advertisements kicked in and took me away from the content. I tried the back button once. When I got taken to yet another advertisement just as the page finished loading, I closed the browser. If you want visitors to see the advertisements instead of YOUR content, you're well on your way.

Not trying to be mean here, but you really should rethink the whole advertisement thing. Banner/Sidebar advertisements are okay. Full-page advertisements BETWEEN links are acceptable to some degree. But to have them load automatically and take visitors away from YOUR content without so much as a mouse-click . . .

Well, I think you get the point I am trying to make.
