Crumpled pictures

I have learned how to make crumpled paper by following THIS (http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=photoshop+clouds+tutorials&emb=0#q=photoshop%20crumpled%20paper%20tutorials&emb=0) tutorial (middle one).

I then wanted to take it to the next level by making a picture have the crumpled effect. I tried all the blending modes in Photoshop CS2 but it didn't work.

I then tried to create the crumpled effect on the actual image to disastrous effect.

I looked for a video tutorial to make crumpled images but nothing came up. Can somebody tell me what I need to do or point me to a tutorial.
