I have a CF-27EB with XP Pro and have bought a touchscreen in hopes of converting my CF-27 to a touchscreen model. I have downloaded some drivers from various places but when I connect the touchscreen and power up all i get is a bright screen with a few horizontal lines running across it. Is this version of CFs able to be converted to a touchscreen. Any help is much appreciated.

well, you can't "convert" your laptop into a touchscreen one (unless you are planning to replace the whole screen ;) ), but you can add the an overlay touchscreen with usb connection and the right drivers.

Have you tried contacting the touchscreen maker tech support?

Well, I have a CF-27EB that came with just a regular screen and then i bought a touchscreen for it but it turned out to be bad. I got nothing but white screen with a few black horizontal lines. I just went and picked up another CF-27EB that already has the touchscreen with it. In my first one it has in the bios the ability to enable a touchscreen on the main tab but on the advanced tab it doesn't have the ability to select the touchscreen on the device for the serial port B. in there it just shows port replicator. But in the second one i got in the bios under the main tab it doesnt show the ability to enable a touchscreen, but in the advanced under the serial port B it does have the ability to choose a touchscreen for the device. Hope that helps explain. I cant seem to get any one of the two to work with the touch screen. The screen that came with the second one does work and view well on the first one. but again no touchscreen capabilities. And the touchscreen i bought the first time for the first CF-27 was just bad.

Also I am running XP pro and could I possibly not have the correct touchscreen driver?

cf27dude, so you are saying that the second laptop has a touchscreen device over the screen or that the laptop screen it self has touchscreen capabilities?

if it's a separate device, its very possible that the problem is an incorrect device driver.

Do you see the touchscreen in your winxp's device manager? do you have any devices with a yellow or red exclamation marks? any unrecognized devices?

laptop 1 didn't have a touchscreen but did have the touch screen enabling in the bios on the main tab but not a way top choose the touchscreen as a device on the advanced tab under the serial port B device selection. but laptop 2 did come with a touchscreen but would not work but in the bios under the main tab it did not have the ability to enable a touchscreen but on the advanced tab under serial port b it was able to select touchscreen for the device. keep in mind i only have the once hard drive that came with the first laptop so i am having to use the HD for both laptops.

The reason why the first laptop had the option on the BIOS is (more likely) because the same BIOS was used for both models.

I believe that the problem you have is that your laptop was not designed for windows xp that means that your hard drive doesn't have the correct drivers installed.

Have you looked at the manufacturer's website?
