I have alot of photos and videos on our family website. It works great for me with cabel, but I have family with satilite, dsl and dialup and they take forever to load. Would they load quicker if I pulled the photos from a database instead of a image/video file on my server? Just don't want to rewite it if it's not gonna matter.

It shouldn't be a big difference, but you may trying to pull out fewer files at a time which will help

You might also try using GD or ImageMagick to size down the images before sending them. Decrease thumbnail sizes on the gallery if you can. Another good idea would be to enable image caching (if the gallery has an option for it).

No. In fact it will be slower. If you want to allow members of your family with slower internet connections to be able to view the content I would suggest you either do as previously suggested, and resize all of your images, or have a option they can select like "I have slow internets" and resize them on-the-fly. With the videos there's no easy way to do it, so you might want to tell them to avoid the videos altogether, or make smaller versions of the same videos and upload them separately.

So I could do a quickload simple version of our site for those with slow internet? I am going to have to look that up on what's quick loading for those connections.
