Go to Windows Defender... then Scan... then it'll ask you to remove a program. If not, then there's no harm.

URGENT HELP, PEASE! I have been trying to access my MySQL database and malware that seems to come from Microsoft (but clearly does not) intrudes and warns I have a dangerous virus that needs to be removed. Before clicking okay, I checked on the Web and found out what it realy is.

I went back to the 'intrusion' and attempted to close it. It took no notice and started to install itself. I then spent hours tracking down what I thought was every bit of it and removing it, including all cookies. It still comes up when I try to get on with work and back to my database -- but I'm a relative newbie who knows next to nothing about computes, so I must have missed something.

I know it's Saturday but I'm hoping that a Warrior who has met the problem (my sympathies) sees this and knows how to get rid of it. It is called Virus Alert 2009 and comes from http://windows-defense.com/2009/1/fr...php?aid=880147 – Windows Internet Explorer (or so it says).

Windown Defender doesn't find it, either. Maybe it's not there but comes back when I try to get into MySQL.

Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Sydney

Malwarebytes antimalware - download for free and update. their latest virus defs are excellent at removing antivirus XP 2008 the first time. They have pretty much the only set of defs that is capable of doing this so far.

virus alert 2009 as well, only its a little bit tougher... Keep in mind that the majority of this virus was transferred through a fake cnn email.
