Office professional 2007 will not instal on my Vista Ultimate. I start the set up with Open as administrator and get well into the instal then I get a screen telling me that it is unable to open C/ProgramData. Check that it is there and that you have permission.

If I try to make a folder ProgramData on C:/ it will not let me. I can make one on D:/ and then move it to C:/, when it asks me if I want to meld it with the existing ProgramData folder.

Whether I say yes or no; the folder does not appear on C:/ by whatever means I try to reveal it. I thought that I had suffered all the stupidity of the MS programmers. Obviously I was wrong.

Any information, magic spells or incantations that actually work! gladly received.:D:thumbsup:

For Gawd's sake HELP.

ProgramData already exists on the C drive by default. It is hidden so you won't see it unless you have your system set to show hidden files and folders. Its possible that you need to disable the UAC on the system before you start installing.

Try Right Click on C drive , then properties and then Security tab . Allow all the users or selected users all the previleges. then try installing.

Try lighting black candles around the computer , and try reciting

"Allow Office in Vista" for 1 million times with Dog's tail in your left hand , Cat's teeth on your right , Bill Gates photo under your right foot and Windows Vista Bootable CD under Left foot
I think it works or otherwise we will have a proof that this method doesn't work :D

Thanks Aero, but I always have UAC disabled. And I had set the All files visible option. What I eventually did was to re-instal Vista Ultimate(Update not allowed) and then before I did anything else after reboot, I installed Office Pro 2007. It went in without demur. Now I have the job to re-instal all the rest of my programs and data.

Happy days.:D
