i desperately need an alternative to the PHP mail() command, my host keeps on disabling the nobody@ feature on the servers and this means no one gets emails with signup details or lost passwords reset requests!!

is there another way surely there must be another way that does not require the mail() command?

please advise

thanks in advance for your help

Are they Windows servers? If so, you could maybe use Blat (http://www.blat.net) - I use that all the time, and it's pretty good.

PHPMailer (http://phpmailer.codeworxtech.com/) is a good alternative.

i have been already been told to use this and did set it up but this uses the mail() command itself !

if you use Zend_Mail you can set it you use Transport_Smtp rather than Sendmail and mail() won't be called.

PHPMailer uses whatever method you tell it to use to send things. Mail is one option but it also supports using sendmail or SMTP directly.

my host keeps on disabling the nobody@ feature on the serversThat really makes no sense. If your script works and the host keeps changing something it is likely that they are doing this in response to problems and trying other scripts won't make it start working. You issue is with the host and you should be finding out from him what is needed to make your script work.
