Simple explanation for what the letters mean

I'm getting confused, and want to make sure I understand correctly.:o

What do the \t and \r do? I understand the \n to be a new line. See example, please.


echo "\t<tr>\r\n";

\t is a tab (which is pretty meaningless when echoing HTML) \r is a carriage return and \n is a newline.

Thanks, Dave. I couldn't find a simple list somewhere for what this stuff is, and trying to teach myself makes it hard to read some of what I find online.
