Scan document from HTML

Hi,
Is there a way to automatically attach a scan option to HTML page? I want a add a button and clicking on the button user should be able to scan one or more documents from a scanner attached to the PC from which the user clicks on the button.
How to do this? Do I require to do a Javascript?
