Hi guys,

Well I would really love some help or advice if anyone has had this happen before.

I am on a Mac os X PowerBook G4, the OS is Tiger 10.4.1 (I cant be sure that it is .1 as I cant read really anything on my computer, but it is certainly a 10.4 version).

When I turned on my computer today, all the files and folders and pretty much any text on my computer has been replaced by "A" in a small box. Here are two screenshots:

I would love any advice or help anyone can provide. If I have left out necessary information please let me know.

Best Regards,

Drew

Thats really weird. I can only imagine that it was caused by an update. Which one I wouldn't know. Is there any way you can "repair" osx with the installation disc?

I found this article that may help: http://www.macworld.com/article/2489/2001/10/firstaid.html

Thanks for your reply Aero, you turned out to be correct. Supposedly it was caused by a corrupt font, from some update, this also damaged my disk, but after a repair, backup and reinstall, I am back and running at normal :)

Thanks,

Drew

I think it may have been a java update. Do you know what update it might have been.
