I hope someone can please help me. My buddy has an RC board with the phpBB format( i guess you call it). Why can't I stay logged in long enough to post, let a lone, post pictures etc. Every time I try to post, I get logged out!! When I try to post pictures, I get logged out. I lose everything and have to start over. 10% of the time, I am successful in posting. I joined his phpBB board from work. We now, can't use the computers at work. I had no problem using the work computer. Now I can hardly stay logged in from my laptop at home. I am using an HP Pavilion fully upgraded(I believe) and I have BrightHouse Highspeed interenet(cable). I have no problems at any other boards but the phpBB ones. I am at a loss. Thanks for your help. Scott;)

Do you have cookies enabled? Does anyone else have this problem? Are you email verified? Do you check the remember me box?

I am not sure if cookies is enabled. I believe it is. I check the box(Keep me signed in). Some say they have problems signing in. I forgot to mention the site. Sorry---> http://www.HappyRcFlyer.com . My e-mail notifications from that board aren't a highlighted link either. Others say: click here to go...... His are plain black,so I have to put his link in my tool bar. The majority of the time, I guess I am the one with the most problems getting around there. You think I need to see if my cookies are enabled? Firewall? Thanks for a quick responce. Scott

I was watching the guests come and go and I have Mozilla 4.0 and others have 5.0. Will this make a difference? Other than that, their computer info pretty much matched mine. Thanx, Scott

Check you're cookies on you're actual browser settings. If you reject cookies it doesn't matter if you have accept cookies on for the site settings.
PHPBB will allow cookieless browsing though. I'm trying to recall off hand if it always puts the sessionid into the url; I'm pretty sure that they use trans_sid for it - this means if you look in the url it will list something like: &PHPSESSID=4545af6fa8b8dfa... If it does, you do not accept cookies. This is where another problem comes, if they have a short timestamp expiry on you're sessions than you will timeout before you get a chance to complete a post.

Problem could also be with the board configurations. If they set an invalid cookie path, they're cookies won't survive the stomping they'll receive.

Nothing is perfect, I use cookies on codingforums here, and every once and awhile it will drop me for no apparent reason and log me off. My best assumption is that there is a table conflict that is locking me from writing a new entry or I have an older timestamp that is in the process of being deleted when I refrresh. In any case, its not a major problem, generally its good.

I fail to see the relationship between the two sites though. They appear to be on completely separate domains, likely administered by different people, and one is on a vbulletin and the other on a PHPBB. I don't normally like to say this, but in this case its true: you get what you pay for. Personally I feel vbulletin is a superior forum system in every aspect - except its cost.

I don't understand what you mean by the e-mail notification links.

Sorry, I wasn't referring to you're post a couple up about the email - you squeezed that one in while I was posting ;)
I meant the email link from the third post. Is it the same one?

Oh I should have edited my post above as well. Not a firewall issue.

I was told that my system is unsecure? And I have to reformat? I have noticed that my buddy list comes and goes, and if I am typing in a post and this happens, I need to click at the end of the sentence where I was when my buddy list reappears. I have noticed things sorta, 'clicking' in and out sometimes. I guess this has been going on since December. If that is what I need to do, besides find my 'cookie cache', then I wish I knew how to reformat my system. I do get a little pop up in the beginning that says" your system is unsecure'. I ignored it, thinking it was just a glitch. I have Mozilla 4.0. I think I have firefox, but not sure. I know we have firefox at work where I first registered into HappyRcFlyer and had NO problems what so ever. I will check for Firefox and download it if I don't have it. Thanks for all your help so far. ;) Scott

Security risks that are notified on the desktop are definitely not a part of PHP. Click the balloon when it shows up, chances are you either have you're firewall disabled, virus scanner disabled, or out-of-date virus definitions. Enable you're firewall and install a decent scanner (AVG is free, I use that one on windows). Windows firewall sucks, but its better than no firewall. So long as you can access the net, the firewall is not a problem. I assumed that this is a windows notification which uses the balloon style popup - if its not balloon style, its probably something different.

For things popping up, if its something you expect its a focus issue. Its simply stealing you're cursor so you need to click back on a webpage. If its something you don't expect it could be a virus or a messenger issue. Disable the messenger service to prevent popups on you're desktop. This isn't used for things like aol or msn or anything of the sorts its different. You can safely disable the service.

I did a full McAfee scan and everything is fully protected. It was just a past due reminder to do a full scan. Hmmmmm, what to do now. Scott

Yup, balloons. I believe you are right about that messenger service. Did i forget that sometimes when I type a post and click to post it, the new window says, 'done' in the lower left corner and it is a blank screen. I click to go back and all is lost. I have to re-type my post and when I get lucky, it posts :D. It happens often. Thanx. Scott
