Hi all,
I am looking for an online shop application which is simple, runs in Mysql/php and is either free or not expensive.
Any recommendation would be a great help to me.
Thanks in advance

CubeCart
Do a little research though to make sure whatever system you use
supports the credit card merchant you are going to use (Payment Gateway).
Also know that there are two methods to handling credit cards ...
1) SIM - simple integration method
This is like PayPal, where the user leaves your site to enter their credit
card info on the CC Merchant's SECURE site ... since your site is not secure.
They return to your site again after the payment is made. This is the easiest
way, but can look a bit clunky since the CC Merchant's site will not look like
your site.
2) AIM - advanced integration method
This is where you have a secure server (HTTPS, not HTTP), the little lock appears
on the user's browser. They remain on your site for all of the credit card info.
The data is sent to your CC Merchant through the secure server, using various
keys, encryption and authorizations. The user never leaves your site.

martha,
oscommerce has the biggest user support base, and is 100% free
It's also fully customizable, there are lots of plugins for it.
cubecart looks pretty simple too, wonder if mlseim has has already used it...

I've actually used both.
CubeCart seems to be simpler, in the aspect of customizing the look.
I'm guessing both have their good and bad points. Since both are free,
you could actually try both and see which one you like better ... then,
remove the one you don't want. Install in separate directories, with
separate MySQL accounts.

I think prestashop is a strong platform with a lot of public participation. It is pretty easy to use with a lot of support. I am currently running several sites with it and no problems and it is great for starting a new business.
