I need a 100% sure answer on this please. 110% sure would be better.

For a Session variable, can I set the expiry date, or is there an expiry date on it? Am I able to use sessions, and store the sessions as long as I am able to store a cookie on someones computer?

I need to make sure it stays with the user that loged in, so I am able to make sure he is logged in still when he gets back from his 10 Month vacation.

Understand?

In that case you better use a persistent cookie - Sessions will timeout in 20 minutes by default, however you can change that with Session.Timeout.

But 10 months? A cookie is the only thing that would work.

I'm quite sure you would have rebooted the server at LEAST once in that time, and there's a reason that a session lasts only 20 minutes by default - so they won't eat up memory on the server.

to have a session for 10 months the browser and PC would have to be in/open for that time, constantly.
