"for example, instead of being restricted to sites ending in .com or .org., eBay could have a site that ends in .ebay, or New York City could end its Web site with .nyc. The new naming process will begin in 2009"
Dondon 07-01-2008, 09:40 AM Yeah, read the news when it came out. This sucks :| I kind of like the idea though, to get rid of these domain squatters and parking shizz.
croatiankid 07-01-2008, 01:00 PM Now companies will be able to squad TLDs and charge what they want for people to register domains under those TLDs with them being the sole registrar for it.
www.micro.soft or www.e.bay?

Fou-Lu 07-14-2008, 10:19 PM Ugh, what a nightmare this is going to be. So much for current email and url validation, I'm pretty sure they are allowing more than 4 characters in these >.<. BTW, I think I'll try to snatch .abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz. Then I can give email address that are super long: me@abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz.abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz :D. Wonder if those harvesters have enough space in their email fields to store an address this length...
Heh, even the patterns here only give me the first four chars...

binaryWeapon 07-15-2008, 03:49 PM Just imagine the increase in parked domains, cybersquatting, and the likes there will be. Everyone will scramble to get the coolest, most original name (and a lot of them try to flip them for a profit).
Apostropartheid 07-15-2008, 08:12 PM abdura, if I knew were you were you'd already be shot multiple times. The joke in the title is just awful.AWFUL.

There are already TLDs with more than 4 letters (museum, travel).
