Need Assistance with customizable favorites

I am relatively new to Javascripting, and I wanted to create a Greasemonkey script that can be used to create a menu on the right side of Firefox that allows users to hotlink (a) thread(s) URL to the menu, and rename it(them) aswell.

Also, the forum that I was planning on making this for has a chat, and I would like to make it possible to open the chat in a frame on the bottom of the screen so that it would still be possible to browse the forums while chatting.

So, if you could provide an example, or help me write these two codes, I would be very appreciative, because I do not know where to start.
