I am trying to figure out how and what kind of coding is being used to pull this image. I do not see any image extensions on the code, so I assume they are using some sort of redirect. Can someone help me out? Thank you!

here is the link to the image.
http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/rfs/716700176.html

Here is the html code they are using:
<div align="center"><br><a href="http://chebot.com/443827"><img src="http://chebot.com/maniuto"></a> </div><br>

What do you mean? Its when you click the image, you're redirected to another page? or something else...

What I meant was the image still loads onto the page without using the actual address of the image file.

<div align="center"><br><a href="http://chebot.com/443827"><img src="http://chebot.com/maniuto"></a> </div><br>

the img src link is directed to a page rather than the actual image file. I want to know how they are making the image appear on the page without using the actual location of the image. Hopefully that makes sense.

This is (almost exactly) the same as this thread:

Thanks for the post, do you think you can explain to me in Layman's terms or a code I could copy to duplicate it?

Apologies, but I don't know it too. oesxyl had given a code,
we'll just wait for him or some other members to give you light with this.

they have a picture, RA.jpg and redirect, 301 moved permanent, any request for maniuto to this picture.

also, mod rewrite:

Thank you for your reply. This looks pretty complicated. I'm not sure I could figure out how to write the code to do this. Do you know any other sites that has a sample script that I could use?

there is no sample script, is a problem of server configuration.
mod rewrite is one of the solution you can use when you don't have access to the server configuration, a hosted server.
in the links from my previous post you can find a lot of explanation and examples.

I don't know why they do that or why do you want to do this way, from my point of view is a uselless complication.
What do you want to achive doing this?

I am trying to make my ads on craigstlist to stick and not be ghosted(flagged). This is one of the strategies that has been working recently. Once the spiders approves the add with the same link, it does not scroll it again and therefore makes your ad published.

only craigstlist can do that because they have access to the server.

check your link again, :)

In other words, an attempt to violate craigstlist's Terms Of Service.

fortunately seems that craigstlist can defend himself, :) but anyway this attempts are annoying.
