Hello all!
I've recently encountered a huge problem with Windows that hopefully someone out there will be familiar with.
It's a bit lengthy to explain here so I built a page for a better explanation complete with pics, so please click the link below:

Hello there!
I'm happy to report that I've solved the problem :)
I searched help in Windows and there's actully a topic on this called Repairing corrupted desktop icons.
Basically it tells you to remove the file: ShellIconCache which you can find by going to folder options and selecting "Show Hidden Files and Folders". You can then perform a search for the file and once you've found it, just DELETE the darn thing already :D
Hope this helps someone at some point in time when it might happen to YOU :)

Check out Microsoft's TweakUI (http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp), too. It has a "Repair" tab that has a tool to rebuild your icons. You'll likely find some other cool tools that let you tweak some thigns you may not have thought possible ;)

I love the darn thing.

I've been using that thing for a while now, does the job and it's only a small dl so I recommend it. :)

It doesn't do much, I used it to stop balloon tips and changed my icon arrows to grey... X-Setup used to be a good one too, allows hundreds of customisations right down to hard disk cluster size. Potentially destroy your system too if you didn't know what you were doing. :D
