hi ,

I want to accomplish this thing , but i am not sure how to do this thing

I want one server computer with windows XP installed and all other softwares whic i need.

Now i have three more dektop computers with Hard disk.

What i want is that all other desktop computers should boot windows from the main servers and the programs which i want like office , photoshop which are installed on main server can be used by other desktop computers

The desktop computers should have no windows installed . evrything they do should be saved on server in specific directory and every new small program they install should be deleted on reboot with only pre-set settings

I'm not sure booting the entire OS off a server with all those programs is very feasible. It'd take a long time and require significant network bandwidth. If you want that kind of setup you'd be better off making the clients have stripped down OSes installed on them and have it run a remote desktop connection to the server. However to do this, XP will not work, you'd need Windows Server (Linux can be setup to work in this capacity as well btw).

Or just install the full OS with programs on all the computers and do the following:

You could use the a program called DeepFreeze to make it so any changes done to the system are reverted upon a reboot. As for having all their files saved on the server, that can be accomplished using roaming profiles but in order to that you'll need a different operating system on your server other than XP.

I should also point out that you still need individual licenses for all of those pieces of software, one for each computer

In my university there are about 1000pcs . Now all computers boot from server.
During boot it says booting from ip 202.2.2..2

And when the other thing is when they changed office 2003 to office 2007 then they did it one night , so they didn't go to individual computer they just updated server.

Windows 2008 server will be ok for this purpose or not.
All computer are local so how can we need more bandwidth. Its all inside one company
