Hello, this is my first post here .

I'm pretty much a beginner so it'll great if the help given to me is well explained.

Well, I would like to know how to interact with hardware with the programming language Java, in other words a program which shuts down my computer merely by running it and stuff like that...
Btw, I'm using the compiler Eclipse v3.2.

Thanks in advance, Ben.

Typically depending on the system there are different system calls that you can execute in order to perform the operations that you want. This would be the safest way to do it in this particular case.

So depending on what you want to do depends on the call you would make.

Java is extremely abstracted, direct interaction with the hardware is nearly impossible because it is native to the OS. However, there is some support, plus you can execute C/C++ code in java.
