How to get a page count for a website

I am preparing a bid to do a web site and I want to get a fairly accurate page count of the existing site so I'll know about how many pages need to be updated.

I don't have access to the site other than through a web browser. Is there a way to use google or some other method to display the number of public pages in a site?

There's a program called Sitecrawler or something like that, it's used for generating XML sitemap files to upload to the search engines, but I'm pretty sure it will show the total number of pages. It's free and easy, and I think it will do what you want.
