Greetings,
I built widget for bloggers www.muzicons.com (its opened, but there is still a lot to improve) The main idea\features are music and emoticons sharing. Widget can be use in different ways www.muzicons.com/about.php..
How do you like this idea? Do you think is it possible to develop this idea into really popular site?

This looks like an awesome project! I'm sure it can be developed into a great site. It's simple, effective, and stylish (yet not too showy). Hope to see more of it in the future!

Its a fresh concept that builds right into a culture that integrates music and emotes. I think you'll have to really push it and try to find ways to market the site into people's daily life to make it popular.

“what`s”? The apostrophe (', ') or the right-single quote (’, ’) can be used to represent the apostrophe, but never the grave accent.

It’s really cool, but I find it a bit hard to read because the background’s too pale a shade (and that’s not because my eyes are going—I’ve just put in a new pair of contacts.) My other idea is to perhaps use a different font for the text on the picture, because it’s, well, rather pixelated.

Otherwise, you’ve got a good concept here and it’s definitely something you should push.

Edit: By the way, it’s been noted to me that the flash code is unnecessarily bloated. Why don’t you try something valid like:

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
data="http://www.muzicons.com/musicon.swf"
width="158" height="60">
<param name="movie"
value="http://www.muzicons.com/musicon.swf" />
<param name="allowScriptAcess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="quality" value="best" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" />
<param name="FlashVars" value="icon_pic=0.png&music_file=AXICdkMN&bg_color=898989&type_of_clip=whith_bar&text_color=FFFFFF&text_message=Hmmmmm..." />
</object>
It does the same thing (:

Why dont you do more styles instead of speech bubbles?

Thanks A lot to all!
Big code is real problem, and thank you CyanLight! (sorry made question in other post too). I am not coding myself , but i will show this to my flash programmer. Also tried your code in wordpress , it didn't worked. Cyan do you freelance?

BabyJack, thanks. Any ideas about new forms?

How about in the shape of a guitar? That would be cool! Basically the more options you have to display the widget, the more creativity people can have placing it. However then you might loose some of the connection to your service.

One thing I didn't think of earlier, what are the legalities of uploading music? What do you need to do to be legit? Could you get sued? Serious question there. You have a terms of use, but I don't really understand all those legal mumbo jumbo pages. It seems like you have covered the bases, but if you haven't consulted a lawyer you might want to.

PS: isn't 12MB a lot of space to give for an mp3? Just thinking about space requirements down the road, but thats enough for a 15 min orchestral piece.

Going to have to have big bandwith, and yes, a guitar would be awesome!

Jeremy: Its ok about rights, there are terms of use, and yes there are friend-lawyer. 12 mb is for start, the i will correct this number.
BabyJack: Yes, bandwidth and space are expensive, but first i need to push widget))
Ok, i think that main problems,ways of developing: more features for skining (different objects, more smiles, colors of text , etc) and it will be "advanced muzicon", also there is problem with BIG code, that should be shorten.
And the priority is to push it and understand whether internet users need it or not.

I think it's a useful and origional widgit and I think many bloggers (and non-bloggers because I am currently using it ;))
Plus, once it gets popular, I think it will be linked on a few sites - why not create an 88x33 button for linkage?

asakub11

BabyJack: i think widget itself is a linkage, i mean if u click smile u will get to muzicon.com)
CyanLight: I spoke with flash programmer he told me:

1. I can kill "id" and "name",
2. I can get rid of bgcolor
3. Everything is doubled for Ie and FF+opera
4. Try to delete "allowscriptaccess" it should work without it
5. we can get rid of flashvars and simply use src="http://www.muzicons.com/musicon.swf?con_pic=12.png&amp;music_file=AXICdkMH....."

BabyJack: i think widget itself is a linkage, i mean if u click smile u will get to muzicon.com)

I mean instead of not having the link hidden in a smile, having just a button or a shrunk logo.

This work!

<object width="158" height="60" align="middle"><embed src="http://www.muzicons.com/musicon.swf" width="158" height="60" menu="false" quality="high" name="musicon_com" align="middle" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="icon_pic=22.png&music_file=AXICdkcF&bg_color=898989&type_of_clip=simple_text&text_color=FFFFFF&text_message=TeSTTtда" wmode="transparent"></embed></object>

Is it valid?

BabyJack

2) It's not valid.

My code will not work in WordPress because it has reaaaaaaaaaal problems with object and likes to truncate it. It also likes to take <param> elements out and do weird things to the rest of the page.

Works on my site :P

I suggest you show your web designer that you don't need <embed> (http://cyan-light.co.uk/valid-flash/).

Because you're streaming the content, you need only use the single, valid <object> tag.

It's very nice, but I think your site is lacking in contrast. Everything is too light. Lightness can be easy on the eyes, but at the extreme, it can be hard on the eyes and appear as boring.

The design is good! Mabeys the logo could be a bit bigger and use some more colours, but thats for Version 2!
