little window appearing onmouseover

I need a window to appear when I mouseover some text.
It's hard to explain what I want so I give an example I founded:

If you mouseover the blue text a window appears, I also want something like that, but the problem is I know nothing about javascript:s
And a friend told me it was the easiest way to do this with javascript.

The text that needs to appear in the window is saved in a (php) variable called '$text'.

If there is someone who can help me making this script, or knows a website where I can find this script, would make me very happy

use the title attribute on the element your text is wrapped in, if it isn't wrapped in an element presently, either wrap it within <label></label> or <a></a>

Sounds like you want something a little more customizable at which point you would need to use a js tooltip. You could use a CSS tooltip as well.
