Sending 500 emails

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what is the best method to send 500 emails at once. They have to be personalised, so adding the addresses in the bcc is no option. I was thinking about calling the mail-function 500 times in a while loop, but I'm not sure the server will be very happy with this ... Furthermore I have to be sure that every mail is send correctly.

If anyone can show me (with an example maybe??) how this is best done I would be very happy!

If you want to send personalized email messages, you have no other option then to make a loop where-in the message body is defined and the mail is sent.

Note that the mail server might crumble on a heavy load of mail. I've tried debugging a system like this once, and somehow mails would get lost all the time. The only way I could find to make this work was to pause between every send.

It might be a better option to provide a link to a dynamic page, or something. and make the emails static, so you can send the lot in a couple of bcc's.
