Dear all:

I'm making a website for my friends. I published the flash file and tried it in my computer, it was working perfectly. But when I uploaded them into the domain server, problem appeared.

Here's the (test) website (the new directory is for me to test the updates)
http://www.makis.ca/new/index.html (The only difference in the (test) website is value="sameDomain" changed to value="always")

Here's the real website (the code is the same, published from same flash program, same setting. Before this one worked, it has the same problem as the one in /new/index.html. But for some very odd reason, we changed the *.htm to *.html then it worked.)
http://www.makis.ca

Here is the html code for the index.html
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=gb2312" />
<title>Maki's</title>
</head>
<body bgcolor="#000000">
<div align="center">
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0" width="800" height="600" id="Makitest3" align="middle">
<param name="movie" value="Makitest3.swf">
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="bgcolor" value="#000000">
<embed src="Makitest3.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" width="800" height="600" name="Makitest3" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
</object>
<br>
<font color="white" size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Maki's Makeup | <a href="mailto:maki.makeup.store@gmail.com">maki.makeup.store@gmail.com</a></font>
</div>
</body>
</html>

By the way I tried the files in tripod, it works but with an error icon on the bottom left of internet explorer
Line: 24
Char: 1
Error: Object expected
Code: 0
URL: http://makismakeup.tripod.com/

I really have no idea why it happened. Can someone help me on this?
I really don't want to have this problem whenever I update their website.
Thank you all in advance.

Like the other guy posting before you, SWFObject (http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/) is way better for placing Flash on pages. Check through the documentation examples, or use SWFObject 1.5 (http://blog.deconcept.com/swfobject/), which is not in development but might be slightly easier to use.

Thanks for your quick reply and your help. I looked over it and tried it.
here's the updated one
http://www.makis.ca/new/indexnew.html
and here's the code.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en">
<head>
<title>Maki's</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
</head>
<body bgcolor="#000000">
<div align="center">
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="800" height="600">
<param name="movie" value="Makitest3.swf" />
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" />
<!--[if !IE]>-->
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="Makitest3.swf" width="800" height="600">
<!--<![endif]-->
<p>Maki's Makeup</p>
<!--[if !IE]>-->
</object>
<!--<![endif]-->
</object>
<br>
<font color="white" size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Maki's Makeup | <a href="mailto:maki.makeup.store@gmail.com">maki.makeup.store@gmail.com</a> | 647-836-Maki(6254)</font>
</div>
</body>
</html>

As you can see, there's still no change. Is there something wrong with this new code? Thanks again~!

You did not read the documentation. Look over the SWFObject examples, and follow the same format. You can't just add the SWFObject script, you have to initialize an instance of the SWFObject which will replace your existing object code. Don't worry, they have pretty good samples on the site to follow, and all you will have to do is change the file names.

I tried this code in www.makis.ca/new/testing4.html
In this code I've eliminated the object code. Can you see if I did something wrong here? It's still giving me the 94%. Once again Thanks so much~!

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en">
<head>
<title>Testing Maki's</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
swfobject.embedSWF("Makitest3.swf", "makitest", "800", "600", "9.0.0");
</script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="makitest" align="center">
<p>Alternative content</p>
</div>
</body>
</html>

I put the direct URL to your swf, and it loaded till 94&#37;. I'm not sure what, but something in your preloader must not be working?

I had the same thought before. Therefore I took away the preloader and tried it. Rather than 94% and kept on waiting, it just kept on waiting without showing the %. If there's something wrong with the preloader or my swf, the currently working version should have the same problem. The only different between the working one and the one we are testing now is just a photo in the "Home" page and added a phone number into the "Contact Us" page.

Here's the fla file. http://www.mediafire.com/?1lmzxh3nxlg

I didn't use SWFObject to load it, but it should work ok. I'm not sure why but it all works?

I changed the AS version to 2. Thats all.

Thanks for your help~! I've tried what you've done by changing the AS to version 2, but it's still not working... Instead of 94&#37;, now it loads and stop at 96%. Do you think there's a problem with my Flash Program or it's the problem with the web host I am using? Can you please upload the swf file that you created so that I can test it out in my web host. Thanks a million~!

Just right click and save the file.

I just tested the Makitest3.swf in my web host, and it only load up to 95&#37;. So it proves that the problem is not from my swf or my flash program and the problem is from the web host side. I'll once again contact them and see if they were able to find the problem or not. Thank you so much. I'll keep you up to date on this. Thanks so Much~!
